Yarn Review: Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn

Today’s review is going to be on Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn. This yarn is 100% acrylic and considered a 4-worsted weight yarn. This yarn has been compared to Red Heart Super Saver, but it’s much softer. For the crocheters out there, the recommended hook size is a size I-9, while the recommended needle size for knitters is a size US 8.

20150721_084129The color selection for this brand is AMAZING! There are so many different solid and variegated colors to choose from that it is hard to not pick them all. There are bright in-your-face colors and also subtle neutral colors. The colors even have some sheen to them, much like Caron Simply Soft. For a store brand yarn, I was very impressed with the color selection. Each solid color is 7 oz. while the variegated colors are 5 oz. This yarn is machine washable.

p1070071p1070076I HIGHLY recommend using this yarn for a variety of projects such as hats, scarves, blankets, and sweaters. You won’t be disappointed in the quality or the softness of this brand.

Yarn Review: Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn

Today I will be reviewing Deborah Norville Everyday yarn. This yarn is considered a 4-worsted weight premium 100% acrylic yarn. The yarn label says that it is anti-pilling. For the crocheters out there, the recommended hook size is a size I-9. The recommended needle size for knitters is a size US 8. Each solid skein is 4 oz. while the variegated colors are 3.5 oz. This collection comes in a beautiful array of colors and is one of the softest yarns I have ever used. It is machine washable.20150501_16291720151228_205543I absolutely LOVE this yarn!! I love the richness of each solid color and love the combinations of the variegated colors. The solid colors pair up well to match the variegated colors. I have used this yarn for a variety of different projects such as hats and baby blankets. I bought a TON of this yarn a while back when it was on sale at Joann Fabrics for $1.99. Working with this yarn is an absolute dream as it glides easily on your crochet hook and is very soft to work with. This is one of my go-to yarns. I HIGHLY recommend picking up a few skeins and trying it out yourself. You won’t be disappointed. If you are looking for a soft acrylic yarn, this is the yarn for you!

Yarn Review: Caron Cakes

Hey everyone!

Today I’ll be reviewing Caron Cake Yarn in the colors Bumbleberry and Lemon Lime. I saw this yarn all over YouTube and different crafty websites, so I knew I had to get my hands on this and try it out for myself!

This yarn is classified as a 4-worsted weight yarn. For crocheters, the recommended hook size is a 5mm H-8. For the knitters, the recommended needle size is a 5mm US 8. This yarn is made of 80% acrylic and 20% wool. Each cake of this is a total of 383 yards. This yarn comes in 18 different beautiful shades with some clever names I might add.

This yarn is soft and very easy to work with. I enjoy the color changes as it makes the project that more interesting. While this yarn is soft, if you are highly allergic to wool, I would skip this yarn. The colors I picked up are in Bumbleberry (purple colors) and Lemon Lime (green colors).

Yarn Review: Lily Sugar ‘N Cream

Today I’m going to review Lily Sugar ‘N Cream cotton yarn. This yarn is 100% cotton and made in the USA. This is considered a 4-worsted weight yarn and comes in both solid and variegated colors. Each solid skein is 4 oz. while the variegated colors are 3 oz. Some of the colors even come in a bigger 14 oz. cone. For the crocheters out there, the recommended hook size is a size H-8, while the recommended needle size for knitters is a size US 7.

5What I like about this yarn is that it is perfect for dishcloths, coffee mug cozies, hot pads, bath scrubbies, and even Swiffer covers as it is extremely absorbent. This yarn is durable and can withstand daily use well. You can simply let your dishcloth air dry, but when you do need to wash it, you can simply put it in the washer and dryer and you will be able to use it again and again.

This yarn is machine washable, making it an excellent choice for a variety of projects.

caron-simply-softWhen working with this yarn, I feel like it glides smoothly on my crochet hook. I love the abundance of color options out there and, of course, the softness of the yarn. Even though it’s a thinner worsted weight yarn, it still holds up well. I have used this yarn in a variety of projects, such as baby sweaters. I’ll be making a sweater for myself using this yarn soon.

Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable Yarn Review

Hi everyone!

Today I want to share with you my review of the Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable Yarn. When I first discovered this yarn, I thought the colors were absolutely beautiful. I think my favorites are the Dragonfly and Sunrise colorways as they are simply breathtaking. Each skein is 3.5 ounces and comes in 14 different colorways (see colors here). The yarn is super squishy and soft, making it perfect for cowls, shawls, or scarves. This is classified as a 4-worsted weight yarn and recommends a size J-10 hook for crocheters and a size US 8 for knitters. I like the slow color changes as you get an idea of what one color looks like before it slowly fades into the next color. This yarn is machine washable.Red Heart Boutique 2Red Heart Boutique 3Red Heart Boutique 1I would recommend this yarn to others. I really like the color options and the softness of the yarn. I feel like you get a lot in each skein. One thing to remember with this yarn is that sometimes it goes from a thicker strand to a thinner strand at random. Also, it can be a little difficult to undo your work using this yarn as it tends to snag on itself due to its fuzziness. If you need to frog your work, go slow and take your time to avoid frustration and anger. You can find this yarn in your local craft store or online.

This is a shawl I made using the colorway Sunrise. I absolutely love these colors together!

Red Heart ShawlRed Heart Shawl 2Have you ever used this yarn? What are your thoughts? What is your favorite colorway in this collection?

Bernat Baby Blanket Yarn Review

Today I will be reviewing Bernat Baby Blanket Yarn. I instantly fell in love with this yarn as it is super soft and plush, making it perfect for baby blankets. This yarn is classified as a 6-super bulky weight yarn and comes in two different sizes: 3.5 ounces and 10.5 ounces. This yarn comes in a variety of solid colors as well as variegated colors. Since this collection is geared towards babies, you will find more of the pastel colors here. However, there is a home collection of this same yarn called Bernat Blanket Yarn. You can find warmer tones here, so feel free to mix and match these colors for your next project. The recommended hook size is a size K-10.5, and for the knitters a recommended needle size of US 11. This yarn is machine washable.

Bernat Baby Blanket

I love working with this yarn as I love the way it feels. It really is nice and warm, which makes this the perfect blanket yarn. If I’m using this yarn, I tend to use a size N or P crochet hook instead so the stitches are bigger. To me, the blanket feels more lightweight. You can find this yarn at your local craft store and online. I highly recommend using this yarn for your next blanket project, whether it’s for a baby or even for yourself.

Bernat Baby Blanket 2

The color that is shown here is called Pitter Patter. It’s a really pretty color. I’m working on a baby blanket now, so once I have that complete, I will post some pictures of how beautiful it looks when it’s all worked up.

Yarn Review-Bernat Softee Baby

Today I will be reviewing Bernat Softee Baby yarn. The first thing I noticed with this yarn is that it is extremely soft. Because of this, it has quickly become my favorite baby yarn. This premium 100% acrylic yarn is considered a 3-light weight yarn.  Each solid skein is 5 oz. while each variegated skein is 4.25 oz. For the crocheters out there, the recommended hook size is a size G-6, while the recommended needle size for knitters is a size US 6. This yarn is machine washable.

This yarn is a delight to work with. The colors are gorgeous and even have a little sheen to them. You can easily find the colors you are looking for to match the colors of baby’s nursery. I have made numerous blankets with this yarn and even some baby hats, too. I highly recommend this yarn for your next baby project as it is super soft and cuddly.
